Zapier + Teamwork Desk = More App Integrations

Posted by: The Teamwork team /

We’ve got news! We’re continuing our fabulous partnership with Zapier by adding an exciting new integration to the mix. This time, Teamwork Desk is joining the party! To complement the existing Zapier app for Teamwork Projects, we have just released a new Zapier app for Teamwork Desk.

Thanks to a new integration through Zapier, you can now connect the apps you use every day to automate tasks and save time. An integration you set up via Zapier is called a Zap, which is kind of like a love child between two apps you want to get together.

How it works:

Users select a Trigger (the event that starts the Zap) and Actions (the corresponding activity the Zap performs) to decide the exact task they would like to automate. Whenever a trigger happens in one app, Zapier will automatically perform the actions specified in another.

The best part of Zaps are their simplicity–you don’t have to be a developer or a coding genius to use it! Anyone can do this.

We’ve built this Zapier integration so you can hook into the core of Teamwork Desk from any of the hundreds of other apps supported by Zapier: Gmail, Slack, Dropbox and more, it’s like a dream come true.

To create an integration with Teamwork Desk, you can set up any number of Zaps, like creating new tickets from the app of your choosing in Teamwork Desk. You can also search for and retrieve tickets and customers through the integration.

For a full list of Zaps and tips for getting started with Teamwork Desk on Zapier, check out this article from the Zapier Help Doc site.

Everyone wants to save a little bit of time during their work day. Use Zapier to create integrations with Teamwork Desk to make the change in your workflow. This combination will open a whole new world of possibilities to you and it begins a very exciting set of developments for Teamwork Desk.

Very nice to get deeper integration with Zapier, it’s an awesome tool.

I would love to see deeper integration with Teamwork Projects too. The part that’s missing for me is that each project needs a different ZAP to trigger. I would be great to have a trigger that isn’t dependent on a specific project. For example, I use Todoist for my daily tasks and I’ve love to connect it to Teamwork projects for new todo items but at this needs to be done at the project level, which is time-consuming with many projects.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the comment and I’m glad you like this integration. We are working on a deeper integration for Teamwork Projects too. Watch this space!

Agreed, Simon. And it’s also dependent on task lists which we have many of within our many projects. Way too much work to really make it useful for me.

This is a really good addition although its short 1 key feature to make it work for us.

We have a project for each customer, so that we can separate out billing.

Based on the email address (domain) of the ticket, it needs to select a different project to add the desk ticket to

Excellent. Just about to hop on Zap to improve my Desk processes. The triggers help but I think this will make a bigger difference.

Hoping to see something where I can zap the time entries either into TW Projects or a Google spreadsheet. Now that would be AWESOME!

Any way we can get an integration from an online form (brief or project request) application to teamwork projects?

I’d love to be able to have the projects show up in queue and I can quote, assign them and set timing after. I miss emails all the time…

Hi April,

Thanks for your comment. I’ll pass this onto the integrations team for discussion in their roadmap meeting.

Hi April,

Yes. You can easily have an online form which triggers Zapier, and then Zapier takes the form submission and creates a task for it in Projects. You could use Google Forms, JotForm, Wufoo, Gravity Forms, or any other form service supported by Zapier. Here’s an example of pairing JotForm with Teamwork Projects:

https://zapier.com/zapbook/jotform/teamworkpm/

You could also have those requests go to Teamwork Desk, from an email or form submission, and then Teamwork Desk create a ticket for it and trigger Zapier to then create a task in Projects and link it back to the ticket. There’s all kinds of automation you could do!

How can I trigger the zap from a task created in any project/task list? And, only for tasks assigned to me?

Hi Mo,

You would use the Zapier app titled “Teamwork”, which is for Projects, and choose the “New Task” trigger. You would then need to add a second step in your Zap and use Zapier’s “Filter” app to only continue if the task has your user ID in the “Responsible Party Ids” field. If it does, then the Zap continues to whatever Action step you specify. I hope that helps.
