Day 10: Drill into the details with task breakdown in Workload

Posted by: Gráinne Forde /

During Teamwork Projects’ 12 Days of Features, we’re delivering a brand new feature every day to help you improve your productivity into the new year and beyond.

On the tenth day of Christmas, Teamwork gave to me… a detailed task breakdown in Workload!

When it comes to quickly finding out what everyone on your team is working on, the Workload feature in Teamwork Projects is a manager’s best friend.

Workload gives you an overview of where and when your team’s resources are being used, letting you see at a glance how many of your team’s estimated hours have been allocated to each task over a period of time. You can view this by person, project, or company. (Please note that tasks will only appear in the Workload if they have an estimated time set and are within the date range set by the filter.)

We’ve now added a new intelligent layer to the Workload feature, letting you drill into tasks to see how they’re distributed among team members.

With this, you can see exactly which tasks your team members are working on. No need to click away from the Workload screen to remind yourself who’s working together or individually on specific tasks.

Using this feature is simple. Go to the Everything tab at the top of the screen and select Workload. When the list of users appears, click on one of the boxes under Tasks that has a number in it. A list of all of the tasks associated with that number will appear, giving you all of the information you need — it’s that easy.

Task Breakdown in Workload

Having this task breakdown list will help you save  time no more clicking around and jumping to individual profiles and projects to get the answers you’re looking for. Instead, you get a much more granular visibility over your team’s time, without losing the big picture view of their overall workload.

If you want to learn more about the task breakdown quick view, check our help doc here. You can also find tips on using the Workload view in this help doc

Note: This feature is available to users on all paid plans.

We hope this string of new features is delivering some holiday cheer. We can’t wait to show you two more features before the holidays are in full swing. See you back here tomorrow!

Wow! I was just asking about this last week! Thanks for rolling it out so quickly. You must have gotten a bunch of requests like mine. Love it. You guys are awesome!

Courtenay Watson

I feel like this was already available? Maybe the implementation of it has shifted, or I’ve imagined it!

Katriona O'Mahony

Hi Courtenay

The Workload feature itself was already available, but we added the ability to see a breakdown of the tasks included in the time rollups.

Hope that helps!

I’m loving these 12 days. You guys are doing an awesome job! A lot of these items where on my list. I’m a very happy user, keep it up!

Thank you Teamwork, I am very happy with all the of the features thus far. After using the new workload view, however, I noticed that you are unable to see what project the task is under when using the workload view. Thoughts?

Thank you!

Katriona O'Mahony

That’s a good point Cody and something the team will definitely implement 🙂

Thanks for the feedback!

Very useful feature, but made less effective by the project not being visible anywhere within the task details? Most companies will have similarly named tasks across several projects and there is no way to know which belongs to which without opening several tabs to investigate. Minor update and would be useful to all! Greatly appreciate anything when it relates to workload though!

Katriona O'Mahony

Good feedback Seth – we’ll definitely look at making the project visible on the breakdown soon!

Thanks and Merry Christmas 🙂
