Day 1: Quickly View a User’s Upcoming Calendar Events

Posted

Introducing Teamwork Projects’ 12 Days of Features! Starting today and continuing for the next 11 weekdays, we’ll deliver a brand new feature to help you improve your productivity into the new year.

On the first day of Christmas, Teamwork gave to me… a user agenda for viewing team members’ schedules and availability directly from their user profile!

Need an easy way to see if your team members are available for a meeting? Today’s feature lets you view their events directly from their profile. In just a few clicks, you can see if their schedule is open — no need for back-and-forth messaging to confirm a meeting time.

Up to now, you could check others’ schedules, but you had to navigate to the calendar and then filter events by user. We’ve simplified all that by placing calendar events all in one place under each person’s user profile.

To access a user’s profile, go to the People section at the top of your screen.

From there, select a user to view their profile. Alternatively, you can click on a team member’s name in the Activity view or select their name in a chat message to access their user profile.

In the profile view, select the Events tab.

The events section shows a list of upcoming events the chosen user is attending, sorted by date:

Here are some of the other sections you can access in the Profile section of your site:

  • Details: View contact and social media information, profile permissions, and handy charts outlining tasks and activity.
  • Projects: See all active projects the user is a member of and filter the list as needed.
  • Tasks: Access a list of active tasks assigned to the user, grouped by task list. This list can be sorted and filtered.
  • Completed: Find all completed tasks; search or filter to find exactly what you need.
  • Milestones: View milestones and sort by date, name, user or project. Advanced filters for keyword, date, tags, followers are also available here.
  • Logged time: See all time logged per day in an easy-to-read chart.
  • Activity: All updates will appear in this section.

Access your team members’ schedule and get more information in one place using this new feature under each user profile. To learn more about this feature check out this help doc. Dear Santa/Father Christmas,

Under my tree, I would like to have separate calendars for each project and person with bi-directional syncing through iCal.

I promise to be good.

I’m with John, being able to resource tasks by calendar availability, in the task view when assigning, would be a huge add value. Imagine clicking on assigning multiple people a task, and then as you do it pulls their availability for the date range of the task. Not only do you gain insight into how your human resources are leveraged for that time, adding any extra filters allows you to potentially re-prioritize those people across other projects.

Hey Kevin,

Thats for your feedback – I’ll be sure to pass it on to the product team for consideration as we build out this feature.

If John didn’t quite make Santa’s “nice” list (sorry, John, I just don’t know you), a calendar view for mobile apps would be a second-best option.

Hi Cindy

We do also have a mobile team working full time on the app – so hope to have an update soon for you on that!

Looking good, can’t wait for the next 11 days! I would still love the addition of 2-way google cal sync for each user and their respective google-apps accounts. But this is a good start in separating the calendars.

Aimee

I third the two-way google calendar sync. That would be awesome! And I promise I’ve been good this year, Santa!

Hi Randy, Suzanne, Aimee, Crystal and Steve 🙂

This is on our roadmap but we don’t have a release date yet.

Hope to have an update for you soon!

Is there a way to integrate this with 3rd party calendars such as outlook or google?

Hi Mike, Branden and John

Not at the moment but I’ll pass this on to our integrations team 🙂

Dear Santa and elves,

Please put more effort towards resource & workload management.

Exactly. It’s the one thing that kills larger adoption here at Texas State–predictive what-if resource planning and insights.

Hi Wishful thinker, Suzanne, Gunther, Don, Kevin and Lori 🙂

I assure you that another team of Elves are working hard on Resource Management in the workshop!

Stay tuned for updates after Christmas.

Dear Santa,
Thank you for all your hard work!
If it’s not too late… any chance of Calendar integration to Outlook, Google, iCal in our stockings!

Thanks,
CM

+1 for Outlook.

Actually, I kinda hate Outlook, so that isn’t a +1 _for_ Outlook. Just a +1 for integration with Outlook since I’m forced to use it by our IT department.

Hi Carson and Kevin

Santa can’t fit that on his sleigh this year unfortunately, but I’ll pass this onto the elves!

Any chance tasks will be associated to multiple projects in the next twelve days?

Thanks,

Hi David

This is not something we have planned for the moment but I’ll pass this onto the product team!

Will this integrate with Google Calendars and be able to pull appointment availability from their personal calendars?

Would be handy for being able to schedule a meeting with a user and being able to see their availability all in one place.

Dear Santa,

Please make the dashboard more modular and customizable. I still would like to see the full list of projects from my team, and corresponding data off to the side of my choosing! For example, next to each project is a total logged time! Right now, I can only view this by clicking on each project individually and clicking the time tab. This results in 100-150 clicks…. 🙁

Dear Teamwork Product Team,

For Christmas I’d like you to stop sending your marketing messages to my clients via pop up windows or on the dashboard of Project.

Are other subscribers aware that Teamwork is pushing product marketing to all users in Project?

Our client’s will now get 12 days of notifications that are really marketing messages for Teamwork products.

Great that you are making product improvements and the blog is the perfect place to make announcements about them. “In product notifications” should only be visible to the Admin Users of the owner company or at least they should be able to choose who gets to see them.

Katriona O'Mahony

Hi there,

The new feature notifications are not visible to collaborators, users with strict branding enables or users in external companies.

Users also have the option to dismiss the notifications indefinitely if they want to do so.

Dear Santa,

Actually, I don’t think it’s that important, or that might be, but I don’t have the same tabs look as shown on this page… As much as I activated the new Beta Program without seeing any changes.

I discover new stuff by the pop-ups weekly, but actually can’t really use them, so it’s so disappointing.
I would appreciate to be able to enjoy all the benefits out of the news features, because it’s so nice.

Thanks,
GDA

Dear Santa.
