Our journey at EY World Entrepreneur of the Year 2019

As some of you may remember, my co-founder Dan and I were privileged to be selected as Ireland’s EY Entrepreneur of the Year™ last year. Last week, we travelled to Monaco to represent Ireland, alongside 55 other entrepreneurs from 46 countries and territories, to compete for the title of EY World Entrepreneur of the Year 2019. This year’s finalists are some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world, and together our businesses:

  • Have combined revenues of approximately US$44b

  • Have produced a combined revenue growth of 257% in the last three years (2015-2018)

  • Employ more than 159,000 people combined, and

  • Represent 11 industries

We’re honoured to have been among such incredible company, and we’re so proud to have represented Ireland on the world stage at this event. There were some truly inspiring entrepreneurs in contention and we’ve learned so much from talking to and working with them. We want to extend our congratulations to the winner Brad Keywell, CEO of US-based company Uptake Technologies. We had the pleasure of getting to know Brad over the course of the week and he is truly inspirational and a most deserving winner. Even though we didn’t win the overall title, this has been an incredible, affirming experience for us. It seems fair to say that when we started our company just over 10 years ago, we could never have imagined that we would end up here, representing our country. And while the awards focus on entrepreneurship, it’s not just about us. We could never have gotten this far without the dedicated, passionate, skilled team that has helped us to scale that first seed of an idea — a stronger, simpler project management tool that lets you work your way — to a growing product suite that we believe will be a game-changer in the emerging Business Operating System category. Competing on this global stage has not only given us a network of like-minded entrepreneurs to learn from and share ideas with. It’s reinvigorated our belief that what we’re doing is not only important, but necessary. We have big plans for the future, and we have no intention of resting on our laurels. But for now, we want to take a moment to appreciate how far we’ve come; to commend the incredible work of our staff and team members that got us here; to thank our beloved family, friends, supporters, and customers for believing in us every step of the way; and to recognize what’s possible when teams work together. Beautifully.
