3X More Powerful: New Teamwork Projects and Zapier Integration

Posted

It’s the Swiss Army knife of integrations that automates repetitive daily tasks so you can focus on the important work that makes your company grow.

We’ve completely rebuilt the existing Teamwork Projects and Zapier integration to give you more flexibility, functionality, and automation power than ever before. This new integration packs a punch, opening up hundreds of new automation possibilities that eliminate repetitive tasks and make your workflow a productivity machine.

If you’re new to Zapier, it can be described as the middleman that ties Teamwork Projects to thousands of other apps and automates the daily tasks that can otherwise eat up your time. It’s simple to use and you don’t need to write a single line of code to create an integration. It works by combining Triggers like “New Task” and Actions like “Create Task” to complete an action in one app when a trigger occurs in another. Combinations of Triggers and Actions are called Zaps and these are what automate your repetitive processes.

The new Teamwork Projects and Zapier integration now has triple the power with 30 Actions, 23 Triggers, and 17 searches to choose from. We know you’re very busy so we won’t go through all of them right now (but if you want to see everything we’ve added, just check out our overview page), but here are some of the most requested Triggers and Actions that have been added to the integration:

New Triggers:

  • Task Updated or Deleted – Triggered when a task is updated or deleted.
  • New Calendar event – Triggered when you add a new calendar event.
  • New Invoice – Triggered when you add a new invoice.
  • Project Updated – Triggered when a project is updated.

New Actions:

  • Create Calendar Event – Creates a new calendar event.
  • Mark Task Complete – Marks a task complete.
  • Create Invoice – Create a new invoice.
  • Create Task Comment – Creates a new task comment.

New Searches:

  • Find Task – Finds a task by searching.
  • Find Project – Finds a project by searching.
  • Find Company – Finds a company be searching.

To help get you started with the latest additions to our integration, we’ve created some Zap templates that will help organize your work and automate some of those time- consuming processes.

Any possibility we will be able to create task lists from Task list templates via Zapier.

We set up lengthy templates and only being able to trigger task lists from scratch is a bit tedious after creating a set of 5 related task lists that have 5 sub-options.

Hi Christian,

Your comment is very timely as giving users the ability for their Zaps to create tasks from an existing task list template is something that we are currently working on. Can you drop us an email on api@teamwork.com with some more information on how you’d like to see this implemented, please? My teammate David will pick up with you from there 🙂

Thanks,
Emma

excellent. i’ve been waiting for this for so long. while i’m here, is relative dates in the works? it seemed to be hinted at but i never saw more. as in T-1 or T+5, where T is a milestone date?

the idea is that task lists are associated with milestones. there are things leading up to and post that milestone that i’d like to associate with it as one task list rather than only being able to make separate tasks towards the milestone.

OR to have one of the dates within the tasklist be T. either works.

Hi Christian,

Just to be clear, do you want the ability to set relative dates via the Zapier integration? This might be something we can implement with the templates feature. We’ll certainly keep it in mind!

If you reach out to David, our integrations developer on api@teamwork.com he can work through your requirements!

Thanks,
Emma

i would like relative dates in TW in general for tasks & task templates. this enables — well, a lot — when there’s a project or task that has things preceding and following that are relative to a particular point or milestone.

this lets you focus & create a set of tasks on the basis of thing that needs to be done’s due date, rather than having to setup the same relative things over and over.

so if i have an event that occurs on a particular date, someone must always buy research flights 30 days before and purchase 23 days before. i use task templates, but currently we have to look at the calendar and set that every time. there are 10-15 additional tasks that lead up to that event.with 60 events in a year, that’s a lot of wasted time. coupled with teamworks settings for “don’t place on a weekend” it would be phenomenal

Hi Christian,

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback! I’ve shared it with the product team and they are taking it into consideration, but we don’t have anything committed at the moment.

Thanks,
Emma
